Stephen "Steve" C. Ellis, 67, of Moline, died on Monday, January 17, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Heritage Church, 4801 44th Street, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 on Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research in Iowa City.
Steve was born on May 8, 1943 in Geneseo to Eldon and Lucille Hartman Ellis. He married Sue Scieszinski on September 17, 1993 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline.
Steve was a graduate of Geneseo High School, DeVry Institute of Chicago and Blackhawk College. He was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Steve was awarded a number of ribbons and medals. He was employed as the Chief Broadcast Engineer with WQPT for over 23 years, retiring in 2008. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed reading and watching Science Fiction. Steve also enjoyed playing on and fixing computers.
Per the family's wishes, those attending the visitation, both Bears and non-Bears fans are invited to wear their Bear attire in honor of Steve.
