Steven R. Carlson

Steven R. Carlson, 77, of Moline, passed away on April 27, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday May 7, 2026, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday May 6, 2026, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Steve was born on August 28, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Robert and Elsie (Petersen) Carlson. He married Janice “Jan” Yoeckel on June 22, 1974, in Moline. Steve was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Navy. In his younger years, Steve loved to bowl. He had worked for the City of Moline as a maintenance mechanic in the Water Department and later in the Engineering Department, retiring in 2010, after 25 years. He was an avid golfer who could often be found at Byron Hills and Highland Springs Golf Course. He loved all sports and especially enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; grandchildren Owen Carlson and Isabella Lambrecht; daughter-in-law, Jessica Carlson; sister, Carol Bloeser; brother-in-law, Don (Sheila) Yoeckel; and five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Carlson, brother-in-law Thomas Bloeser, and his parents, Bob & Elsie.
