Clara Sue Karlix

Clara Sue Karlix, 88, of Moline, passed away on August 17, 2026, at Celebrate of Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday August 21, 2026, at Moline Church of Christ, 4800-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Moline Church of Christ, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.

Sue was born in Winfield, Alabama on March 21, 1938, to Ulysses and Bea Webster. She was the seventh of ten children.

Sue had three children, Kathy Smith, Tim Anderson and Jane Anderson with her first husband, Garlon Anderson. She later married Ted Karlix on March 26, 1988, in Olathe, Kansas. Sue worked for John Deere for 24 years, retiring in 1998. Her greatest enjoyment came from cooking big family holiday dinners, being a member of the Red Hat Society, and lunching with classmates of her husband and neighbor, Pauline.

She is survived by daughter, Jane; daughter-in-law, Julie Anderson, both of Moline, IL; step-children, Sandy (Ascension) Padilla od Moline, Ken (Janel) Karlix of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Karen Karlix Smith of Sarasota, FL; sister, Wanda Crumpton of Winfield, AL; two brothers, Joe Webster of Fayette, AL and Curtis Webster of Birmingham, AL. Together Ted and Sue have 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her patents, her husband, Ted, her son, Tim Anderson and her daughter, Kathy Smith, four brothers and two sisters.
