Susan Higgins, 60, of Moline, IL, died April 28, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.
Susan was born on August 2, 1955, in Waterloo, IL, the daughter of Edward and Joyce Horn Nobbe. She married Steve Higgins on May 15, 1982, in Waterloo, IL. Susan held a Master’s Degree in early childhood education and worked as a kindergarten teacher for Rock Island Center for Math and Science. She was a wonderful teacher - teaching was her passion and she took great delight in watching her students succeed.
Susan was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking Christmas cookies, and interior decorating. More than anything, Susan loved traveling with her family on vacations, and planned annual extensive explorations.
Survivors include her loving husband, Steve Higgins; daughters, Ashley Higgins, East Moline, IL, Lindsay Higgins, Iowa City, IA, Kylie Higgins, Rock Island, IL, and Taylor Higgins, Chicago, IL; brother, Tom (Jane) Nobbe, Waterloo, IL; sister, Pam (Randy) Veath, Waterloo, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
