Sylvia M. Taets, 69, of Coal Valley, IL, died Friday, January 02, 2015, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 201 1st Street, Colona. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. A rosary will be recited at 2:15. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in her name.
Sylvia was born on March 13, 1945 in Kewanee the daughter of Joseph and Winifred Sherbeyn VanStechelman. She married Dewayne Taets on February 5, 1966 in Atkinson, Illinois.
Sylvia attended Northern Illinois University and worked with Lohman Brothers. She later worked as an upholsterer for 10 years, but most of her life she was a homemaker. Sylvia was a very devout catholic; her faith was truly her foundation. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona where she was a member of the St. Martha's Circle. She was a strong supporter of both Breast Cancer Awareness and of Multiple Sclerosis Awareness. Most of all Sylvia loved her family and cherished attending her children and grandchildren's scholastic activities and sporting events.
Survivors include Dewayne, her husband of 48 years.
