Terry B. Lough

Terry B. Lough, 72, of Orion, passed away peacefully, at his home on January 6, 2026.

Terry was born on August 5, 1953, in Moline, the son of Willis “Bill” Glenn and Kathryn R. (Stromquist) Lough. He married his high school sweetheart, Marita Buysse on July 8, 1978, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion. Terry was previously employed at the Orion Telephone Company. He was later an owner of Orion Standard Service and Orion Bulk Fuel. Terry retired from Essig Motors in Aledo.

Terry was raised in the Methodist faith. He was active in his community and was a volunteer with the Orion Fire Department, the Orion Fall Festival, and the Village Board. He enjoyed playing cards, dice, and was an active seat holder at O’Leary’s. Above all, Terry loved to be with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include wife, Marita; children, Brad (Cherylynn) West, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Ashley (Ryan) Hayes, Sycamore, IL; Shannon (Kayla) Lough, Orion; Bryce (Taylor) Lough, Richardson, TX; grandchildren, DeAundra (Ross) Lynch, Karla (Ryan) Nelson, Chaela West, Crystal West; Payton, Paxon, Taylee, and Reece Hayes; Kinsley, Rylie, Hallie, and Cade Lough; Blakely and Bennett Lough; great grandchildren, Josslynn and Emberly Lynch; brother, Bruce (Carolyn) Lough of Orion and their son, Jason; sister, Carol (Wayne) Toprock of Orion and their daughter, Samantha; and many, many nieces and nephews, too many to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. at Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th Ave, Orion on Saturday January 10, 2026. Funeral and interment services will be held immediately after visitation, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church, International Soundex Reunion Registry, or simply by making it a point to spend time with your kids, grandkids, and loved ones. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family.
