Velma "June" Ross

Velma “June” Ross, 95, of Moline, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation.

June was born on September 20, 1927, in Rock Island, the daughter of John E. and Leota E. (Pardee) Leslie. She attended Augustana College. June married Donald W. Engstrom on July 21, 1951, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1956. She later married John “Bill” W. Ross on January 27, 1968, in Rock Island. June was previously employed as a secretary for Deere & Co., retiring after 30 years. She was a member of American Baptist Women’s Ministry and the Mississippi Chapter of Embroiderers’ Guild of America. She was a talented seamstress and counted cross stitcher, including Japanese Embroidery. She also enjoyed making ceramic dolls and sewing their outfits. June spent much of her time volunteering for Kings Daughters.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Donald W. (Teri) Engstrom, Jr., Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Cheryl Engstrom Reidenouer, Moline; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald and her parents.
