Verda L. Young, 76, of Cable, IL, went to heaven to join her loving husband on Monday, July 9, 2012.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13th, 2012 at the Cable Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion.
Verda was born on May 3, 1936 in Swedona, IL the daughter of Benjamin and Anna Peterson Johnson. She married Arlin Edmond Young on November 12, 1954 in Cambridge, IL. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1987.
Verda was employed as an insurance clerk with Royal Neighbors before starting her family with Arlin. Verda attended the Cable Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, baking and cooking with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing both clothing for her children as well as Barbie doll clothing. Most importantly was the fact that she never closed a door to anyone and that family and friends were everything to her.
