Vern Allan Anderson, 70, of Moline, went to his heavenly home on July 3, 2014 at his residence.
Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a family memorial gathering will take place at a later time.
Vern was born on May 26, 1944 in Savanna, Illinois the son of Vern Alston and Martha Altensey Anderson. He married Rita Skinner on December 6, 1969, and they later divorced. He then married Linda Fecke on May 1, 1977.
Vern attended various schools in the Carroll County area before enlisting in the United States Army for 6 years during the Vietnam conflict where he served as an Army cook. He was a lifetime member of the Savanna American Legion Post #0148 and the Savanna V.F.W. Post #223. Vern was very proud of his ancestry which included various nationalities and was especially proud of his Cherokee Native American lineage. Vern was best known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. He liked the simple life, keeping his world low key and not seeking glory or grandeur. He enjoyed fishing, playing games and reading. Vern also enjoyed watching movies, sports and political talk shows; and especially liked joking around with his family and friends.
Vern will be dearly missed by his wife, Linda.
