Virginia L. Hamerlinck

Virginia L. Hamerlinck, 85, of Orion, passed away on September 6, 2026, at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

All are invited to attend the graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday September 14, 2026, at Western Township Cemetery. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family.

Virginia was born on November 4, 1940, in Marion, Kentucky, the daughter of Glenneth and Anna Ruth (Gass) Hodge. She married Kenneth R. Hamerlinck on January 2, 1960, in Colona. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2010. Virginia worked as a beautician for over 40 years and enjoyed all of the friendships and conversations throughout the years. She was also a co-owner and manager of Corner Mart in Sherrard.

Virginia was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, Orion. She enjoyed sewing, card club, watching all Orion Chargers sports and women’s basketball. She also loved having coffee with her lodge friends in Orion. Above all, Virginia loved being with her family.

Survivors include her children, Neil (Beth) Hamerlinck, Orion, Julie (Chris) Wheaton, Moline; grandchildren, Ashley Wheaton, Silvis, Brittnie (Jacob) Cadogan, Davenport, Nicholas Hart, Moline, Scott Liedtke, Sherrard; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Calvin, Everest, Kinley; brother, Walter (Jeri) Hodge, Milan; sister, Sue (Mark) Eckroth, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Craig.
