Virginia A. Porter, 76, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015, at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at 1:15 p.m. for the procession leaving at 1:30 p.m. from Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.
Virginia was born on April 21, 1939, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Erland T. and Ruby V .Erickson Grundstrom. She married Gerald Porter on October 8, 1960, in Moline, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1993. She worked as a mail clerk for Deere & Co.
Virginia was a member of several clubs. She belonged to the Viking's Club, Svithoid Club, American Legion Post 277, East End Club, Elk's Club, and Friend's Club.
Virginia enjoyed dancing and traveling. She loved word search puzzles.
Survivors include her sister, Barbara J. Colburn, Aurora, CO; nephews, Christopher R. Colburn, PEI, Canada, and Bradford E. Colburn, Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
