Walter K. Marshall

Walter Kerr Marshall, 95, of Aledo, formerly of Eliza, IL, died Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Orion United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Harris from the Aledo United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 P.M. Sunday with a Masonic Service at 5:30 P.M. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 - 4th Street., Orion. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sherman Masonic Lodge No. 535, Orion or to the Aledo United Methodist Church.

Walter was born on April 9, 1920, in Western Township, IL, the son of Charles and Mattie Kerr Marshall. He married Elva Marie Garmer on August 5, 1945, in Orion, and she preceded him in death on April 16, 1995. He farmed in the Eliza area and was also a carpenter.

Walter was a former member of the Joy United Methodist Church and a current member of the Aledo United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Sherman Masonic Lodge No. 535 in Orion as well as the Mercer County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and doing word search puzzles.

Survivors include his children, Nancy (Dean) Gearhart, Plainfield, IL, and Nadine Burleson, Lexington, MO; grandchildren, Lisa (Dennis) Payne, Higginsville, MO, Robert Lee (Ashton) Burleson, North Las Vegas, NV, Lynda (Marvin) Groneman, Henderson, NV, Renee (Scott) Stratton, Las Vegas, NV, and John (Holly) Burleson, Henderson, NV; 15 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; very dear friend, Aileen Andress, Aledo, IL., and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 1 sister, Elgina Carroll; 3 brothers, George, Howard, and Vernon Marshall.
