Wayne M. Kimbel, 76, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at home.
A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Tanglewood Hills Pavilion, 4250 Middle Road, Bettendorf, IA. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Pulmonary Department. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wayne was born on January 2, 1940, in Rock Island, IL, the son of John Robert and Eva Hedstrom Kimbel. He married Virginia “Gini” Holdener on September 28, 1968, in San Francisco, CA. He worked as a systems analyst for Fireman’s Fund Insurance in San Francisco. Wayne was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army.
Wayne loved boating and was a boating enthusiast. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area, a lot of his time was spent boating with friends and family in the California Delta. In his later years, Wayne loved living on the Mississippi River and most especially, his river view.
Survivors include his loving wife, Gini; sister, Shirley (James) Bush, Coal Valley, IL; brother, Jack (Marlene) Kimbel, Davenport, IA; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Herman Holdener, Vacaville, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Eileen Kimbel, Don and Toni Kimbel; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta “Sis” and Don Hines.
