William Green

William Green, 84, of Moline, IL, died Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015, at Beulah Presbyterian Church, 9221 148th Avenue, Orion. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Homestead Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Orion American Legion Post 255. Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church.

William was born on February 14, 1931, in Centralia, WA, the son of Lee Adlie and Hannah Page Green. He married E. Louise Fields on August 1, 1954, in Rio, IL. In 1993, he retired as the shift supervisor of the IPS Department at Alcoa in Bettendorf, IA, after 30 years of service.

William was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246.

William was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church, where he was a former trustee and elder. There, he was the treasurer of building funds as well as a volunteer cleaner.

William was the disciplinarian in the family and taught his sons a valuable work ethic. He enjoyed playing baseball and golf, and was on the John Deere Golf League. He was a Cardinals fan, and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an organic vegetable gardener and enjoyed his orchard that he planted. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and all children.

Survivors include his loving wife, Louise; sons, William L. (Jan) Green, Coal Valley, IL, John Green, Moline, IL, Marty Green, Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Jenny (Kelby) Krueger, Geneseo, IL, Ben Green, Lansing, MI, and Abby Green, Italy; great grandchildren, Taylor, Sierra, and Lane Krueger; sister, Grace (John) Chezem, Galesburg, IL; brother, Bob (Elaine) Green, Centralia, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
