William Hogan, age 84 of East Moline, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007 at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Anyone wishing to attend, should be at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis or a favorite charity.
Bill was born December 9, 1922 in Moline and orphaned at the age of 2. He was adopted by his uncle and aunt Howard C. and Inga Hogan. He married Elayne Swanson on January 5, 1947 in Moline.
Bill was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S.Air Force. He retired in 1974 from the Rock Island Arsenal. He served in World War II, where he was in the 8th Air Force 306 Bomb Group (Lead Bombardier), 55th Strat Recon and 7th GODETIC. He also served in Korea and Vietnam. Bill was a member of MOAA.. He also was a member of Moline American Legion Post #246, Moline VFW Post #2153, THOR Lodge #9 of Vikings and the Rock Island County 40 & 8.
