William Minard

July 22, 1928 — April 30, 2014

William Minard, 85, of Bettendorf, IA, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at New Hope Foursquare Church Main Auditorium, 2305 7th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.

William was born on July 22, 1928, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Louis and Elizabeth (Siebel) Minard. He married Joyce A. Russell on June 5, 1954, in Moline. William proudly served in the United States Army. He began working at Minard & Sons' Trucking. He was later employed by Alcoa for 37 years and also worked for Pleasant Valley Schools.

Since the age of 10, William was a member of Moline Gospel Temple which later became New Hope Foursquare Church. There he was a Deacon and drove the first ever Sunday school bus. As part of the church outreach, he volunteered his time to attend to the kitchen functions.

William was an extremely dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea and Meagan; 2 brothers, Lester and Robert.
