William “Scot” Johnson, 60, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 12th, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was born on July 26th, 1963 to parents William Ewert Johnson and Martha Elizabeth Fuller in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to Macomb, Illinois in 1974.
Scot met his beloved wife Adrienne (née Yokas) in 1987. They married at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Rock Island, IL on October 7th, 1989. Scot and Adrienne enjoyed 34 wonderful years together. Scot’s pride and joy were his children, Marina and Bill. He loved being a dad and was the best at it.
Scot served his country both as an active member of the U.S. Army and as a career civil servant. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal’s Joint Munitions Command in December of 2020 after 35 years of government service. Scot made the most of his retirement years, teaching himself Spanish and traveling the world, both with his family and with his treasured friend, Tom Bakeris.
Scot will always be remembered for his love of his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Scot was preceded in death by his mother. Those left to remember him include: his wife, Adrienne, of Moline, IL; his daughter and cherished son-in-law, Marina and Alex Moore, of Moline, IL; his son, Bill, of Chicago, IL; his father and step-mother, Bill and Jan Johnson of Macomb, IL; his brothers Chris (Christine) Johnson of Coraopolis, PA, Robert (Katie) Johnson of Huntley, IL, and Nick (Deanna) Padgett of Chicago, IL; his sister-in-law, Marina (Dennis) Reese of Bettendorf, IA; and his nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank their dear friends, Drs. Michael and Vickie Pyevich, for their love and care for Scot.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 16th, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, March 15th, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory in Moline, IL with a Trisagion service starting at 7 PM. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the CJD Foundation or to St. George Greek Orthodox Church in his honor.
