William Taylor

William James (Bill) Taylor, 59, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center-Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Gospel Mission Temple, 5074 N. Pine, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bill was born on October 19, 1955 in Moline, IL., the son of Elder Willie J. and Mildred L. Hollingsworth Taylor. He was united in marriage to Flora Ellis on May 25, 1984. He worked for the City of Moline in the engineering department for several years before being employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 30 years, retiring in 2015.
Bill attended Moline Schools and wrestled undefeated in his Jr. High School years. He graduated from East High School in Waterloo Iowa in 1974. Bill gave his life to the Lord and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Moline.
An Entrepreneur from the beginning, at age 8, the Dispatch ran an article on him as Moline's Youngest Businessman as he started his own shoe shine business in the downtown Moline area. He went from a shoe shine kit as a young boy to a brick and mortar business as an adult when in 1994 he began his professional business, Contemporary Photography. He was well known in the community for his photography work. For several years he had a gallery at the Moline Municipal Airport as well as having a display at the Moline Public Library. His work could also be seen at the Village Inn restaurants in the Quad Cities area and at several other local restaurants. Bill was the official photographer for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, volunteering his work for more than 12 years. He has also volunteered for March of Dimes, Red Cross and a number of other community, civic and religious events on a routine basis. His postcards, key chains and magnets are sold at the John Deere Corporate headquarters, their gift stores and other retail locations throughout the Quad Cities area.
He was an avid drummer, playing for various choirs and bands throughout the years. He loved his Harley and Harley memorabilia.
Survisors include his son, Christopher (Anshekeitia) Greer, Rochester, MN; daughter Monique A. Taylor, Rhinelander, WI, 3 grandchildren, siblings. Dr. Kenneth (Elaine) Hollingsworth, Las Vegas, NV, Karl (Cheryl) Hollingsworth, Lithonia, GA, John (Jill) Taylor, Davenport, IA, Bette (Herbert) Thompson, Waterloo, IA, Roxie (Robert) Muskeyvalley, Rock Island, IL, Robert Taylor, East Moline, IL, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kerstin; a foster brother, Breon Norton, and 3 infant siblings.
