Willis "Bill" Laverne Dawson

Willis “Bill” Laverne Dawson, 85, of Granbury, TX, formerly of Sherrard, passed away November 24, 2022, at Bridgewater Memory Care Granbury, TX.

Bill was born January 13, 1937, in Viola, IL, to Harry and Bernice Dawson.  He was married to Bobby (Hopkins) Perry for over 50 years, and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2019. Bill retired from Swedlow Inc., as head of maintenance,  drove a semi for Sears, and also worked other various construction jobs.

Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957.  He was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 81 of Lake Havasu, AZ, where he served in multiple areas, from Commander up to the State Level.  Bill was known to love a good cigar, afternoon toddies, and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheri Brown, Moline; son, Michael (Stacy) Tracy, Long Beach, CA; sister, Linda Nichols, Milan; brothers, Terry (Ardie) Dawson, Granbury, TX, and Dean (Betty) Dawson, Cable, IL; and grandson Jesse Mallery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Irene, Raymond, Jim, Wayne, Maryann, Shirley, Mike, Dorothy, Patty.

Graveside services will be scheduled at the Sherrard Cemetery at a later date.
