Barbara K. “Barb” Iams, 80, of East Moline, passed away, surrounded by her family Saturday, April 3, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the family.  In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

Barbara was born on October 13, 1940, in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, the daughter of Everett and Mary (Miller) Hunter.  She married Wendell Iams on July 20, 1957, in Maywood, Missouri.

Barbara dedicated her life to raising her 5 children and creating a happy and love filled home. The love carried over caring for and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you spent the day with grandma, you left there feeling special and loved.

Barb and Wendell spent 64 love- filled years together. Wendell remembers the day he met Barb, he knew she was the one and he professed this to his mother and God “I have met the woman I am going to marry.” the rest was history! They shared a passion for training and racing thoroughbred horses. That passion was passed down to their children who continue to train and have success in the horse racing field. In Barb and Wendell’s later years they cherished sharing coffee every morning, talking politics, enjoying home cooked meals, and watching their favorite FOX news.

In the age of empowering women, Barbara was ahead of her time always being a strong woman that would not hesitate to give you her opinion, but she also embraced being a beautiful woman that would not leave the house without lipstick on and a little perfume. Barb was the kindest woman that would give you her last dime if you were a person in need. She was a devout Christian, read the Bible daily and lived her life for Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her husband; children, Kevin Iams (Amy), Jerry (Terry) Iams, Theresa Kear, Lisa Miller (Lonnie); 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Debbie, brother Jerry, sister Shirley.
