Bernice S Strother

Bernice Selma Strother, 100, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at her residence.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Bernice was born on April 24, 1921, in East Moline, the daughter of Frank and Madeline (Dussliere) Vanderhelst.  She married William Strother at St. Mary’s East Moline in 1941.  He preceded her in 1995.  Bernice enjoyed cooking, baking, camping, flower gardening, her dogs, being a caretaker, and being in the rain.  She loved traveling with her husband around the United States as well as Europe.  Family was Bernice’s everything she loved spending holidays together whether big or small.  She loved going to sporting events to cheer on her grandkids.  Above all Bernice simply enjoyed being with her family.

Survivors include her children, Ron (Sandy) Strother, Vicki Wood, Cathy (Alan) Otis; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Joan, and Blanche; son-in-law, Roland Wood; and loving daughter, Becky Riddle.
