Dannie Lee Edmunds, 65, of Coal Valley, passed away, Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery and military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the family. In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
Dannie was born on July 5, 1955, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of John and Mary “Vivian” (Walker) Edmunds. He married Lori A. Ferreri on August 31, 1979, at Silvis Baptist Church. Dannie was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and a member of the former Milan V.F.W. and Patriot Guard.
Dannie began his work at Randulph’s in Silvis then at John Deere as a fork truck driver. He later worked at Harrington Signal as a repairman for the circuit board then at American Air Filter. His started Edmunds Roofing which ran for several years. After an accident, he started Final Grade Landscaping which the whole family took part in running. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion, and ABATE of Illinois Blackhawk Chapter. Dannie was very talented and was able to make specialty tools. He also taught others how to wrench on things. He enjoyed watching sci-fi movies, fishing, riding his motorcycle and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife; children, Dawn (Ryan) Willers, Coal Valley, and Christopher (Mandi) Edmunds, Osco; grandchildren, Leila, Emily, Sebastian, BrezLynn, LaiKyn, and Ruger; and great grandson, Ryder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Debbie Coleman.
