Delilah Martin-Sykes

Delilah Christine Martin-Sykes (née Jackson) of Rock Island Illinois, formerly of Chicago Illinois transitioned home to her “Heavenly Father” on March 30, 2022, in Rock Island.

Delilah was affectionately known as Lila, Dee, or Dee-Dee by her family and close friends.

Delilah loved to cook. Delilah especially loved to fry chicken and bar-b-que for her family and friends. Delilah also loved to entertain family and friends and enjoyed playing highly spirited games of bid whist with family and friends.

A Celebration of Delilah’s Life will be on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at Crystal Lake Golf Club, 100 Crystal Lake Blvd., Hampton, GA.

Delilah Christine Jackson was born February 20, 1955, in Miami Florida, the daughter of Mary Magdalene Morris and Eddie James Jackson.

Delilah attended and graduated from Kenwood Academy High School in Chicago Illinois, where she played flute in the jazz band. Delilah attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston Illinois and Florida International University in Miami Florida and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering.

During her lifetime Delilah was employed at Liberty Mutual In Miami and Orlando Florida. Delilah was also employed at John Buck Company in Chicago, Illinois. Delilah was a member of Second Baptist Church, Rock Island, Illinois.

Delilah leaves to cherish her memory son, Jerett B. Martin of Lynchburg Virginia, daughter Ashley M. Sykes of Rock Island Illinois and granddaughter Gu’Myah, sisters Mary Louise Smith of Cleveland Ohio, Bobbie Pierson (Herbert) of Chicago Illinois, Viola “Toni” W. Leone of Florida, Tangelia Bakari (Albert) of Florida, Pamela Y. Jackson of Florida,  brothers Gregory Moore (Pavla) of Moline Illinois, Nashid Shabir (Christie) of Florida, Gary James Jackson (Marla) of Florida and Eddie James Jackson Jr of Florida, Uncle Billy Morris of Ariton Alabama and Aunt Cynthia Wright of  Atlanta Georgia

Delilah also leaves behind her Godmother Mrs. Mary Ramsey of Rock Island, special nephew John Pryor of Moline Illinois, special cousins Barbara Green of Chicago Illinois, Linda (Morris) Daniels of Miami Florida, Mackie Morris of Miami Florida, Lou Ann Fresorger of Saginaw Michigan and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to celebrate her life and cherish her memory.

Delilah was preceded in death by her parents and sister Denise.
