Donald L. Ague, Jr.

Donald L. Ague, Jr., 78, of Silvis, went home to be with Lord at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family, on November 14, 2022.

According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and memorial services will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Memorial visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with military honors conducted by the VVA Chapter #299. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Love Hope Project.

Don was born on February 20, 1944, at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo, to Donald and Virginia (Graehling) Ague. He married Bonnie Day on October 8, 1977, in Moline. Don attended Riverdale High School in Port Byron. He was a proud Navy veteran serving on the USS Constellation from 1963-1967. Don was a member of The Gathering Church, Silvis Garden Club, and the VVA Chapter #669. He spent his career as a tool and die maker at Swan Engineering, from which he retired in 2009 as a toolroom manager. He volunteered much of his time for Habitat for Humanity Restore. Don was an avid gardener and a talented woodworker, having crafted lovely furniture for the home, and gifts for family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie; daughters, Wendy Teague, Bettendorf, and Crissy (Tim) Terry, Des Moines, eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother Emery (Deb) Ague, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and LeRoy Ague, and sisters, Sharlyne Fuller and Pam Barnett.

Don was a kind, loving, generous man who will be missed by all who knew him.
