Dr. Marvin L. Skoglund, 85, of Moline, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Heartland Healthcare Center, Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3775 Middle Rd, Bettendorf, IA 52722.  Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, YouthHope, 3928 12th Ave, Moline, IL 61265, or New Life Lutheran Church, 8010 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34240.

Marvin was born on May 15, 1936, in Sterling, Colorado, the son of Raymond and Martha (Campbell) Skoglund.  He graduated from United Township High School class of 1954, where he was captain of the football team.  He then went to Western Illinois University, where he met his wife, Jolene Spangler, and they were married August 5, 1961, in Liberty, IL.  He graduated from University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago in 1963, where he was chosen for Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  Marvin did his orthopedic surgery residency at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, and served in the U.S. Public Health Service in New York City.  He practiced orthopedic surgery at ORA, retiring at the end of 1998.  He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, IA, and attended New Life Lutheran Church, Sarasota, FL.  Marvin was a former member of the Moline Rotary Club.  He was a member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, and Heritage Oaks Golf and Country Club, Sarasota, FL.  Marvin and Jolene spent winters in Florida for 20 years.  Family was always very important to Marvin.

The family wishes to thank Heartland Healthcare Center and UnityPoint Trinity Hospice.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jolene; his two sons, Jeffrey (Jacqui) Skoglund, St. Louis, MO, and Daniel (Kristen) Skoglund, Austin, TX; 5 grandchildren, Daniel David (Laura), Los Angeles, CA, Caroline and Gretchen, St. Louis, Lauryn and Anna, Austin, TX; sister-in-law, Evelyn Skoglund; and brother-in-law, Neil (Sheliah) Spangler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Dwain Skoglund.
