Gary L. Lee, 77, of East Moline, IL, died Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, IA.
A family directed Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Mary, Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1402 10th Street, Orion, IL. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded and private family inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Island Humane Society or to any animal shelter of your choice. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gary was born on July 12, 1939, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Louis D. and Mildred E. Gillespie Lee. He graduated from St. Ambrose University. In 1965, he married Dee Abrahamson in the Quad Cities and they later divorced. He was the owner and operator of Gary Lee & Associates, a tax accounting firm, in East Moline.
Gary was a veteran, having served in the United States Army from July 1963 to October 1968. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and fun-loving friend. He was also a competitive athlete, avid sports fan, and animal lover.
Survivors include his significant other for many years, Sharon Russell, East Moline, IL; 2 children, Tracy (Doug Foutz) Lee, Charlotte, NC, and David Lee, Kansas City, MO; 2 sisters, Shirley Anderson, Janesville, WI, and Barbara Perry, Woodland Hills, CA; 2 brothers, Randy Lee, Lynn Center, IL, and Rodney (Kim) Lee, San Diego, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and former wife, Dee.
