H. Blake Finch

H. Blake Finch, 76, of Silvis, passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Tuesday, April 06, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family.

Private funeral services will be held.  Visitation will be from 1-4 pm Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, Moline.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed.  In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.

Blake was born on July 6, 1944, in Savannah, GA, the son of Braxton and Becky (Gober) Finch. He attended Southern Illinois University. He was a United States Airforce Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. Blake moved to the Quad City area from Granite City, IL to work for National Steel. He wanted to meet people in the area, so he started working as the Admissions Manager at The Quad City Downs. While working at The Quad City Downs, Blake was introduced to the Duffys, who later offered him a position with their company, Per Mar Security. During his work at The Quad City Downs he met his wife Debbie. They were married October 20, 1973 in Port Byron. In 1974, they were blessed with their twin daughters, whom he cherished his entire life. After 35 years of service, Blake retired from Per Mar Security as the Vice President of Electronic Security.

Blake was best known for his love of photography and videography. He was never seen without a camera in hand. He could always be found taking pictures and video of ball games, sporting events, and all things important to friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; children, Jennifer (Matt) Drobney, Kelly Finch, and James Booth; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Zachary, Brendan, Braxton, Mattie, and Elizabeth; sisters, Cindy (Brian) Sheehan and Lynn Mitchell, brother, Mike (Joyce) Hicks, and many nieces and nephews.

Blake was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Braxton and Regina Finch, mother and stepfather, Becky and Charlie Hicks, and brother, Wayne Finch.
