Obituary

John R. Lucus, 72, of East Moline, passed away, Monday, May 4, 2020.

Services will be held with the family in Arkansas at a later date.

John Lucus was born on July 19, 1947 in Rock Island, the son of John Gael and Alice Joann (Selles) Lucus.  They later divorced and Alice married Robert W. Taylor who raised John.  John married Ada Ruth Stoker in 1970 and later divorced.  Of this marriage, John Lucus II and Nicholas Lucus were born.  Nicholas and Ada Ruth preceded John in death.  He remarried, Rebecca Senna, in Longmont, Colorado , September 20, 1980 and she passed July 17, 2015.  They had 2 children, Elizabeth and Michael. John enlisted in the Army and served his country proudly in Vietnam from Dec 13, 1967 until January 12, 1970. After being discharged from the Army, John joined the Army National Guard. He served for 18 years both in Colorado, HHB 1st BN 157th FA and the 39th SPT BN ARARING, Conway Arkansas and received an Honorable Discharge as Three Stripe Sergeant Major in June 1999. He loved to camp and fish and R I D E!  He loved to JAM to CCR and Classic Country Music.  John was a member of the “Brothers of the Third Wheel” and rode in many fundraising events. John loved to build VWTRIKES with his brother, Howard. For many years, John’s home was in Conway, Arkansas until his health began to fail.  John lived the last five years in Illinois first in the Sterling Rock Falls area near his life long friend and comrade, Art Norton (Marilynn).  As his illnesses progressed he lived out the remainder of his life with his brother, Ron Taylor(Sena), in East Moline.  The only thing missing was their brother, Howard.  As young boys and men, the four were always together, wrenching on cars/Trikes or just having fun and possibly getting into mischief!  They have a bond that can never be severed, even in death.

His last visit to Arkansas was at Christmas and he enjoyed seeing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and siblings.
