Karen "Kay" Carlson, 69, of Rock Island, IL, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at home.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
Karen was born on October 24, 1945, in Maquoketa, IA, the daughter of Willis and Hilda Stickley Isbell.
She married David Carlson on December 28, 1968, at Faith Lutheran Church in Moline, IL. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing and worked for St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, IA, for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Following her retirement, Karen was self-employed, cleaning homes until 2012.
Karen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island and the Moline Vikings Club. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, cards, camping, going to the casino, and collecting flamingos.
