Obituary

Oscar Lopez, 81, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, Illinois.  Visitation will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 12:30 p.m. at the Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

Oscar was born October 26, 1940, in Salamina, Colombia, the son of Rogelio and Soledad (Cuartus) Lopez.  He worked at Alcoa in Bettendorf until his retirement.  Oscar was a member of the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island.  He enjoyed swimming, reading, volunteering, and helping others.

Survivors include sisters Martha Hernandez and Gloria Pino, brothers Rogelio Lopez Jr., and Alvaro Lopez, and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Luz Elena De Amezquita.
