Richard Miller

February 26, 1932 ~ January 24, 2021 (age 88)


Richard A. Miller, 88, of Coal Valley, passed away, Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.  Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Richard was born on February 26, 1932, in Macomb, IL, the son of Zello and Bessie (Zimmerman) Miller.  He married Arlene W. Linn on August 29, 1951, in Crown Pointe, IN.  She preceded him in death on February 22, 2016.  Richard was a teacher for the Moline school district retiring on May 11, 1987 after 31 years.  At the same time, he also worked as a machinist for various employers including the Rock Island Arsenal.  Richard was a member and served in various capacities at Beulah Presbyterian Church, Orion.  He also coached football at John Deere Junior High in Moline for a number of years.

Survivors include his children, Becky (Bernard) Pearson, Silvis, Michael (Diane) Miller, Coal Valley, Neil (Kenlyn) Miller, Orion, Jan (Bill) Green, Coal Valley, Jim (Kristin) Miller, Loveland, OH, Judy (Conte) Bingman, Illinois City, IL; grandchildren, Richard (Jill Stiles) Pearson, Cynthia (Brian) Smith, Lisa (Chad) Dusenberry, Christina (Mike) Giger, Eric (Heather) Miller, Valarie (Joe) Nellor, Adam (Karen) Miller, Nathan (Emily) Knorrek, Trista (Dowin) Coffy, Kevin Miller, Jenny (Kelby) Krueger, Nick Miller, Cole Miller, Cody (Haley Neal) Bingman, Molly (Jordan) Painter; 20 great grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Roy & Floyd, 1 sister, MaryBelle Duyck.
