Robert Sandberg

Robert Paul Sandberg, 80, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.

Robert wished to be cremated.  No services will be held.  Memorials may be made to Niabi Zoo.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Robert was born on November 23, 1940, in Iowa City, the son of Paul and Florence Sandberg.  He graduated from Moline High School.  On January 9, 1960, he married Charlene Frost.  He worked for various local companies and eventually started his own construction and consulting company.  He had a passion for flying and owned several small planes over the years.  Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and telling stories with his cousin, John Herberg.  His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, yardwork, and getting new cars. His family remembers his strong work ethic, his sense of humor, and his commitment to his principles.

Survivors include his children, Doug (Onda Willert) Sandberg, Davenport, Rod (Amy) Sandberg, Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Quinn, Grant, Derek, Toby, Carly; and sister, Bonnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
