Ruth Ann Scott

Ruth Ann “Ann” Hauberg Scott, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020, at Silver Cross, Rock Island, Illinois.

Beloved wife of the late James “Jim” Scott and cherished mother of Steven (Mary Jo), Suzanne (Ted Buckles), Thomas (Theresa), David (Amy), and Diane (Michael Vyzral). Adoring grandmother of 15 grandchildren and great grandmother of 10 great grandchildren.

She was born July 11, 1930, in Moline, to the late Dr. George D. and late Emma Hauberg (Rydell). She graduated from Moline High School in 1948 and Augustana College in 1952, where she received her B.A. and was a member of Chi Omega Gamma sorority. She was employed by Moline National Bank, Deere & Company, and Moline School system. She married James “Jim” Scott on February 20, 1954, and enjoyed 57 years with him, spending time with family and friends, international travelling and attending Antique Automobile car shows, before he passed away in 2011.

Ann was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, where she had been active in Ruth Circle, Book Club and Choir.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Mary Hauberg Jarrett, and a great grandson, Vincent Bowers.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Friendship Manor and Silver Cross, in addition to Compassus, for their compassionate and loving care.

A private family service will be held at Esterdahl Mortuary, Moline, IL. A recording of the service will be available on Friday, January 8 at esterdahl.com on her obituary page.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, IL, Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, or Friends of Hauberg Civic Center Foundation, Rock Island, IL. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
