Ruth E. Whipple, 90, of East Moline, passed away January 11, 2021, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm at Wildwood Church, East Moline. Visitation will be from 11-1 pm, Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the church. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established. In accordance with restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a face mask and observe social distancing.
Ruth was born on August 18, 1930, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of Rollin and Cora (West) Farnam. She married LeRoy C. Whipple on September 24, 1950, in Kewanee, IL. He preceded her on August 2, 1993. She was a graduate of Geneseo High School in 1949. Ruth worked as a waitress for many years at several local resturants. Ruth belongs to Wildwood Baptist Church and is a member of The Golden Girls and Home & Mission. She loved playing cards and belonged to many clubs including Cloverleaf Bunco Club. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth was an avid Cubs fan, attending her first game at the age of 89. She was a member of Family Campers on Wheels.
Survivors include her children, Jim Whipple (Sharon), Julie & Mark Millhollin; granddaughters, Brandy Fisher, Allyson (Kyle) Coverdill, Kariann Millhollin, Marika Rosenboom, Tabbatha Mirfield; grandsons, Kyle Millhollin (Paige), Matt Millhollin, Mitch Millhollin, Tom Gaskey III; brother and sister-in-law, Skip & Janett Farnam; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron & Cora Whipple; brother-in-law, Raymond McDonald; sisters-in-law, Shirley Whipple, and Nina Whipple; 7 great grandchildren, 14 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and daughter, Joyce.
