Vera Tuttle

Vera Margaret (Schuneman) Tuttle, of Orion, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the age of 88 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020, at the Osco Community Church, Osco, IL.  Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.  A private family burial service will be held.  Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., is assisting the family.

Vera was born on December 2, 1931, at her parent’s farm northwest of Manlius, IL. The Christian J. Schuneman homestead.  She was the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Beauchamp) Schuneman.  She was educated at Red School rural Manlius, IL, Manlius High School and Huntington College, Huntington, IN, where she met her future husband, Charles Richard Tuttle of Cambridge Springs, PA.  Vera and Chuck were united in marriage on October 19, 1952, at the United Brethren Church in Manlius.

Vera was a member of the Osco Community Church.  Over the years she served as a soloist and a choir member as well as an Awana Kids Club volunteer.  She worked for 25 years as a cook in the Orion School District.  She was active in various charities and helped others in any way she could and over the years she especially enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids events.  Vera was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Vera is survived by her husband, Chuck, sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Robin Tuttle of Orion, IL, Owen and Theresa Tuttle of Hampshire, IL; three granddaughters, Jessica (Jeremy) Flowers, Susan (Bryant) Schaffer, Ashton (Levi) Dyer; three grandsons, Michael (Hannah) Tuttle, Jake Tuttle, and Luke Tuttle; sister, Polly Lickhart; and two sisters-in-law, Berdina Schuneman and Kathleen Walton.  She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and two brothers.  A great family reunion is now in progress in heaven!

Memorials may be made to the Osco Community Church.  Cremation will be granted at her request and burial at Western Township Cemetery, Orion.
